Creating the property definition

With the Create Property Definition form (prepare > Surfaces > Interpolate Property > Create Property Def.) you create a property definition which is the container holding all the selections and settings that you specify in the subsequent workflow steps. The interpolated output property will carry the same name and will be saved as a property of the surface representation of the event you select on the form. If a property with the same name already exists for the surface representation, it will be overwritten (you will be prompted with a warning upon creation of the property).

To create a new property definition

  1. Property definition  Select 'Create new' and enter the name of the property definition in the entry field below.
  2. Folder  Select the folder (or model) that contains the surface representation for which you want to create the new, interpolated property. You can choose from the Data folder, Surface Sets, Seismic Interpretations, Marker Sets and Thickness Maps in the JewelExplorer (only folders/models that exist in your JewelExplorer will show up in the drop-down list).
  3. The Folder, Event type and Event selections act as a 'cascading' filter. Once a folder has been selected, only event types present in the selected folder will be listed under 'Event type'; once an event type has been selected, only events of the selected event type will be listed under 'Event' and once an event has been selected, only available representations for that event will be listed under 'Representation'.
  4. Event type  Select the event type of the event for which you want to create the interpolated property. The following event types are eligible for selection: Horizon, Unconformity, Intrusion, Fluid contact, Property, Fracture, Microseismic, Map, Line, Undefined. If you choose 'Any...', all eligible events in the selected folder (previous step) will be available under 'Event' (next step).
  5. Event  Select the event for which you want to create the interpolated property.
  6. Representation  Select the representation for which you want to create the new, interpolated property. All the existing surface representations of the selected event are available for selection.
  7. Click Apply at the base of the form to save the settings and keep the form open, or click OK and move to the next step of the workflow, Assign Data.
